Hello, my name is Georgina, I was born and raised in beautiful Lions Bay, British Columbia, so the natural world has always been a source of solace and inspiration for me. As can be seen from the picture proudly displayed on my page featuring the majestic Lions, this serene coastal community will forever hold a cherished place in my heart. Within these rugged mountains and tranquil shores, I discovered the essence of who I am today.

My love for the outdoors was evident from an early age, and it has continued throughout my life. Whether hiking mountain trails or kayaking and spending every day at the beach, I find joy and fulfillment in every adventure. My upbringing instilled in me a deep-rooted passion for environmental sustainability, driving me to become an advocate for the preservation of our beautiful planet.

My hobbies include painting and pottery, which are my creative outlets, but golf is my favourite activity. I enjoy playing golf because it combines my love of the outdoors with a challenging and strategic sport. As golf requires focus, discipline, and a constant goal of improving, it provides an ideal opportunity for personal growth and development.

My academic pursuits led me to Kamloops in 2020, where I began my educational journey at Thompson Rivers University. My double minors in Philosophy and Geography have equipped me with a unique perspective on the interconnectedness of humanity and the environment. Philosophy has not only sharpened my critical thinking skills but has also provided me with a deeper understanding of the complexities of ethical decision-making. It has allowed me to critically examine different perspectives and develop a well-rounded approach to environmental stewardship. Studying Geography has given me a broader perspective on global issues and challenges. It has allowed me to analyze and comprehend the complexities of climate change, urbanization, and environmental sustainability. This knowledge has empowered me to make informed decisions and take action towards creating a sustainable future for our planet.

My dream is to teach at a school like Davis Bay Elementary on the Sunshine Coast. “Nature Education for Sustainable Todays and Tomorrows” (NEST) is a Davis Bay Elementary program conceived to offer students a nature and place-based learning opportunity at the elementary grade levels. NEST is rooted in a philosophy and pedagogy supported by research that underscores its emotional, social, and academic merits. This embodies the very ethos that fuels my passion for teaching. The privilege of inspiring young minds with the wonder of nature is one I strive to achieve. It is more than a profession; it is a calling, a testament to my unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and holistic education.

In essence, my background reflects my deep-rooted connection to the world around me and my commitment to environmental stewardship. Through my hobbies, academic pursuits, and career aspirations, I have developed a deep perspective on the interconnectedness of humanity and the environment. I am driven by a passion to inspire young minds and foster a love for nature through education, as students are a key group to target with climate change education and action. I believe that nurturing empathy and appreciation for our planet is vital for its preservation and the well-being of future generations.
