I found this assignment to be very fulfilling due to its alignment with my pedagogical philosophy. Place-based education focuses on creating authentic and meaningful learning experiences that take place in the student’s local environment. PBE fosters deeper connections between learning and real-life contexts by immersing students in their communities’ heritages, cultures, and landscapes. It was through this presentation that I was able to convey the importance of PBE in promoting student engagement, encouraging interdisciplinary learning, and nurturing environmental sustainability. Through sharing insight into PBE, I hope to motivate fellow educators to adopt this approach, empowering them to provide enriching educational experiences relevant to the lives and environments of their students. Ultimately, this presentation serves as a framework to advocate for a pedagogical approach that prioritizes place-based learning and its transformative potential in education.
